Description: Hello. I am writing to ask for your help, if possible, for the people living at 3368 Washington St. The situation here is very concerning. Even though the building is new and beautiful, many of us, including myself, were never informed that there would be a shelter in the same building. The only separation is the elevator. The problem is that this is not a family shelter; many of the people there struggle with drugs, alcohol, and inappropriate sexual behavior. Too many serious situations have happened here, and the residents who simply want to live peacefully are living with anxiety and fear. There have been attempts to sexually assault workers during the daytime, several people have died from overdoses, there have been stabbings, and it has even been reported that someone was sexually assaulted inside their apartment. In the laundry area, where there is also a children’s space, people often use drugs. Needles are sometimes left behind, which is extremely dangerous for children. They also gather in the patio area to use drugs, leaving the area unsafe and contaminated. It is very disturbing for families who live here with children.
