- I am writing to express concern about the recent maintenance to the sinkhole on New Sudbury St. There had been a sinkhole that was growing and had been coned/sectioned off. This was attempted to be resolved with the steel plates and tar that was placed. After the maintenance though, the area was not sectioned off, there was no warning posted, and no way to know the area was still wet. I walked my dog along this sidewalk this morning, with the understanding the sidewalk had been repaired as was safe to walk on (since there was nothing to indicate there could still be hot tar). My dog unfortunately now has tar and burns on her feet from this. I am certain this was not the only instance of damage, as it is a busy sidewalk and the tar was still hot hours later. I am writing because I would not like this to happen again and believe there should be signage if there is going to be hot tar on a pedestrian walkway. Please look into whomever was in charge of this project/maintenance and let them know of the impact something so minor can have. I am fortunate enough that my dog is a tough sport and will likely be just fine. However I would hate for something more extreme to happen to either a child, another dog, or even to someone’s nice pair of shoes. Feel free to contact me with any questions or updates.
