Description: I am writing to request traffic calming measures on Itasca Street and Messinger Street due to ongoing safety concerns. Speeding on Itasca Street is out of control, and many drivers fail to stop at the intersection. Although the posted speed limit is 25 mph, drivers frequently exceed this limit, especially during the morning and afternoon when children and families are walking to and from school. Mattahunt Elementary School and family daycares are near this busy intersection, where many students cross these streets every day. Drivers constantly run the stop sign while speeding +40mph, creating a dangerous situation for pedestrians. I am requesting that the city evaluate this area and install speed humps and flashing stop signs on Itasca Street and Messinger Street to help slow traffic and improve safety. Given the presence of young children and families, I believe additional traffic calming measures are urgently needed. Thank you for your attention to this important safety issue.
