Description
I am writing regarding a serious rodent infestation impacting 540 Commonwealth Avenue and the surrounding area. The Shubert Foundation has taken extensive measures to mitigate rodent activity within their building, including ongoing pest control treatment, cleaning, and other remediation efforts. Despite these efforts, the infestation continues to significantly impact the property and its tenants. Both McDonald’s and Bank of America have experienced disruptions to business operations due to the severity of the issue and the need for extensive treatment and cleaning. We believe there is a vacant parcel of land located at the corner of Brookline Avenue and Newbury Street Extension that is owned or maintained by the City of Boston. There are bait boxes present at that location; however, they do not appear to be regularly monitored or maintained, and there is substantial rat activity originating from that area. Although the Shubert Foundation has gone to great lengths to address conditions within their own property, the ongoing rodent activity from the adjacent vacant lot continues to drive rats back into the building. We are requesting the City’s immediate assistance in properly maintaining this parcel and implementing additional measures to mitigate the rodent activity in the area. This has become a serious health and sanitation concern for nearby businesses and the public. Please let us know the next steps and who we should coordinate with regarding this matter.
