Description
I am writing to formally complain about the ongoing excavation and construction work taking place on Peterborough St and the significant disruption it has caused to residents. This project has been ongoing for more than a year, and the cumulative impact on those who live in the area has become increasingly difficult to tolerate. Despite the extended duration of the work, the level of disruption remains excessive and appears to be poorly managed. Construction activities regularly begin at approximately 7:00 a.m. each morning. The noise generated by excavation equipment is extremely loud and disruptive, particularly for residents who are trying to sleep, work from home, or otherwise enjoy reasonable quiet in their homes. In addition to the machinery noise, construction workers frequently shout and yell to one another outside in the early morning hours, further contributing to the disturbance. While communication among workers is necessary, the volume and frequency of the shouting is excessive and inconsiderate of nearby residents. In addition, last Friday evening, water service was shut off for more than five hours. Going without water for such an extended period is highly inconvenient and creates unnecessary hardship for residents, especially during the dinner hour when water is needed for cooking, cleaning, and basic household needs. Advance notice and better planning should be provided for service interruptions of this duration. Another major concern is the condition in which the work site is left at the end of each day. Rather than properly restoring or patching the trench, crews leave metal plates placed over the excavation area. These plates appear to be installed haphazardly and are not secured adequately. As vehicles drive over them throughout the night and on weekends, they generate repeated loud banging and rattling noises that are extremely disruptive to nearby residents. The noise continues well beyond construction hours and significantly impacts the quality of life for those living on the street. The combination of a construction project that has dragged on for over a year, early-morning machinery noise, workers shouting outside residents' homes, prolonged utility interruptions, and the constant nighttime disturbance caused by unsecured metal plates is unacceptable. Residents have been expected to endure these conditions for an unreasonable length of time with little apparent effort to mitigate the impacts. | Case (SR) Type: [ONS Coordinator Issues] Referred To: [ONS: B.
