Description
Please read!!! Hatch shell lane closure on storrow causing significant traffic!!! Good evening, My name is Michelle Gaudreau. I am a 27 year old nurse who works at Boston Children’s Hospital. I currently live in Dracut, but previously lived in malden for 2 years. I was hoping to bring it to someone’s attention the significant level of traffic buildup that occurs on storrow when a lane is closed for hatch shell shows. The traffic backs up all the way to 93 (when i come from dracut) and would back up to the tobin (when coming from malden). A normal 30 min drive with malden or 45 from dracut turns into 1.5-2 hours for both when a lane is closed. I understand it’s for drop off and pick up of the event, and i am in full support of the events happening. However, i have been late to work multiple times from these events. Even when i plan out leaving earlier than normal, sometimes the traffic is standstill. GPS will say 1.5 hours but then it ends up being 2 or more. It’s really difficult when working a stretch of nights to have to walk up and leave dramatically earlier to still barely make it to work. Is there any different place that pick up and drop off can happen? Can someone working just temporarily help with traffic and let people in and out instead of an official lane closure? Whenever i am going there i never see anyone getting picked up and dropped off. Maybe during the even the lane can be opened up again? Please consider helping this situation as it is a significant burden to boston healthcare workers trying to make it to their 7 pm shifts.
