Description: I live on the third floor of a triplex at 723 Washington St, Brighton, MA 02135. The air conditioning for my unit is controlled by the tenant on the second floor, who has repeatedly turned it off — this has happened dozens of times. As a result, the temperature in my apartment has risen to as high as 85°F. The landlord is aware of the problem because they have contacted the second-floor tenant on multiple occasions to have the AC turned back on. Despite this, no permanent fix has been made (such as relocating the thermostat or giving me independent control). The issue continues to recur and interferes with my ability to comfortably use my apartment. I have notified the landlord in writing requesting a permanent solution. I am requesting an inspection regarding the maintenance and control of the air conditioning system and whether current conditions affect habitability.
