- Rat bites: [No] Rats in the house: [No] Rats outside of property: [No] What is the nature of the problem: [resubmitting case BCS-00235218 I have filed numerous complaints regarding this developer-owned property, which has been abandoned and neglected for years. For a long time, I have warned that the lack of maintenance would lead to a serious rodent and pest problem. Unfortunately, those concerns have now become reality. This structure is harboring rats and other vermin, and the infestation is spreading to neighboring properties. I have personally had five rats killed in my own yard, and my neighbor has dealt with several as well. This is no longer an isolated issue—it is a public health and quality-of-life concern affecting the surrounding community. A $50 fine is clearly not enough to change the owner’s behavior or encourage compliance. I am demanding that the City take meaningful enforcement action to address this disgraceful negligence, require the property to be properly maintained, and eliminate the conditions that are allowing this infestation to continue. The City has been made aware of this issue multiple times. Continued inaction will only allow the problem to worsen and place neighboring residents at greater risk. I respectfully request immediate intervention and a clear plan for enforcement.
