Hello, this report is not necessarily about illegal parking, but there were no other options for me to choose from in regard to parking. I am reporting the parking of vehicles on one side of Lanark Road in Brookline. I understand that parking is permitted on that side, but Lanark Road is very tight, and it is supposed to be a two-way street. Yet, because of people being able to park on the one side of it, it becomes a one-lane street, and becomes very dangerous in the process. During my daily commute, I often travel down Englewood Avenue, then turn left onto Lanark Road. Cars are always parked on the left side, so I go up the right side, as normal, but, other people often are coming down the left side, and flying down, at that. Not only is it hard to see if someone is coming down the hill, due to the cars being parked on the left and blocking the view of someone turning left onto Lanark Road, but if you’re already on Lanark Road and someone comes flying down, there is nowhere for you to go. They can’t simply just pass by you in the other lane, because the lane is blocked by cars. I have had to rub my tires against the curb, and even drive up on the curb, just to attempt to fit two cars going in opposite directions on that road. I understand that finding parking is difficult in city areas, but people cannot continue to be allowed to park on that road. It is a danger to everyone who has to travel it. I am attaching an image of the street from maps, and highlighting the area where cars are always parked, making it impossible for two-way traffic.
