Description: Each night when I walk from Steriti Rink to the Aquarium via the Harborwalk I see rats all along the way and hear them squealing and rustling in the trash containers. It is out of control. They are everywhere - from the public toilet outside the Marriott, the pier, the stones along the walkway, the trash containers, outside Joe's restaurant, at Battery Wharf (less so), and behind the elementary school by the tennis courts and walkway. I see them in the playground on Prince St, crossing the street from Monicas to Dino's, and in Polcari playground. I know they have invaded my building on Prince Street as well as several have been trapped. I know the city is trying to do something but there's no evidence of such in the North End. Heavy duty trash containers must be mandated to replace bags, trash containers must be unbreachable by rodents, and trash containers need to be emptied more often. Trash should be collected daily. This situation is out of control and it appears that they city is aware of it but it just gets worse. I am going to choose Prince Street as the location for this report but the problem is everywhere.
