- Hello, I am requesting a housing inspection due to an ongoing rodent issue affecting my apartment. We discovered what appears to be a dead rodent inside a wall vent, which has caused an increasingly unbearable decomposition odor throughout our apartment. The smell has spread from the hallway into our bathroom, living room, kitchen area, bedrooms, and closets. It has permeated our clothing and belongings to the point that the odor is noticeable even when we leave the apartment. We have also experienced flies inside the apartment, and I have had to temporarily relocate my young son to his grandmother’s home because of the conditions. Management arranged for pest control, but the technician spent approximately two minutes in our apartment and advised that nothing could be done except wait for the odor to dissipate. He also informed me that management was already aware of rodent problems in two upstairs units, including an opening reportedly allowing mice into the walls. I have photographic evidence of the suspected rodent (keep in mind we found more than 1) and written correspondence documenting my attempts to resolve this with management. I am requesting an inspection to assess the sanitary conditions in our apartment and determine whether the reported rodent infestation and entry points are being appropriately addressed.
