- Description
- Dear City of Boston Officials, I am writing to request immediate action on the persistent rat infestation in Allston–Brighton, with particular concern for Lower Allston, the residential neighborhood north of I-90 and south of the Charles River. SINCE YOU APPARENTLY NEED A SPECIFIC ADDRESS IT IS 90 ANTWERP ST AND 131 HOLTON STREET ENTIRE STREETS AND SURROUNDS. While rodent control is important throughout Allston–Brighton, I want to specifically draw attention to Lower Allston, where families with young children live and where residents should be able to walk, play, and enjoy their neighborhood without encountering rats. Rats are frequently visible on sidewalks, near homes, and around trash collection areas. This is a serious public health and sanitation concern, particularly in a residential neighborhood where children regularly spend time outdoors. I urge the city to take coordinated action, particularly in Lower Allston. Simply asking residents to report individual sightings or purchase better trash bins is not an adequate solution to a neighborhood-wide infestation. This requires a coordinated municipal response. Families and residents of Lower Allston deserve clean, safe streets. I urge the city to prioritize this residential neighborhood while continuing rodent control efforts throughout Allston–Brighton. Thank you for your attention. I look forward to a substantive response outlining specific actions and timelines. Sincerely, Lower Allston / Brighton, Boston, MA
