Description
The 5 newly installed wall pack fixtures are a misapplication for this Tobin Bridge underpass area. Output and color temperature are too high & optics of the fixtures create a dangerous situation. The contrast is excessive & creates dark areas where people can hide unnoticed. They are extremely glary & shine directly into the eyes of pedestrians and drivers on Chelsea Street, forcing them to look away from where they are trying to go. These fixtures are designed for much higher mounting heights, and 5 of them is excessive. Color temperature is too high; more appropriate for a highway rather than a residential neighborhood. This is a gas lantern district; color temperature of 2200K vs these at 4000-5000K. Also, this is a missed opportunity to highlight the beautiful sculptures installed there. Please contact LIGHT Boston (www.lightboston.org) for free consultation from lighting professionals. We have a long history of supporting the City in outdoor lighting enhancement. This is not an improvement!
