- Description
- The tree roots are through my front yard and at my foundation. Can the city arborist come and meet me to discuss removal or replacement? I believe the roots are growing towards a water source. Also killing my lawn.

Noted. All public street trees in the City of Boston are protected by state law (MGL CH 87). For the BPRD Urban Forestry Division to consider removing a public shade tree for the reason given, we need proof of the roots damaging the foundation. Proof shall include pictures of the roots growing through and damaging the foundation and written documentation from a structural engineer stating that the tree must be removed in order for the repairs to be completed. Until then the tree will not be removed. Proof of the damage can be sent to Boston Parks & Recreation Department 3rd floor, 1010 Massachusetts Ave Boston, MA 02118 Attn: Urban Forestry Division or emailed to Trees@boston.gov.
