- Hello, I work at a hospital in Boston, specifically BWH - 75 Francis, my office is in Thorn 127-D at the BEI. In our office touchdown space there’s a mouse or possibly many mice, especially in the staff offices. I know they exist and sure they’re all around us probably, but not this close. It shouldn’t be normalized in plain sight, never mind at a hospital. No one else thinks it’s a big deal, but it’s disgusting. There’s droppings all around staff desks, especially mine. It’s almost impossible to avoid contact with droppings. My shoes touch them, bags, god knows what else after hours. Environmental services will sometimes clean the droppings, but I really had to ask them, and I felt bad, but they said I could clean it myself which made me uncomfortable. I refused - mice carry disease. I’m finding it increasingly concerning and not sure what can be done. It’s really bad, and pest control put traps that don’t work, and there’s droppings everywhere - I’m in a corner desk which is even worse. Please let me know if I can contact someone outside of my company to do something? Maybe the Health Dept. Or someone to take this seriously. If you have suggestions that would be appreciated. I thought employers in MA were responsible for maintaining a pest-free work environment and sanitary conditions. Thank you!
