- I'm trying to understand the scheduling and requirements around Emerson / Rotch field. I live in the area and like to use the field for workouts whenever it is available, it is a great space and I appreciate it being open to the public often. I'm trying to understand what the rules are in terms of field usage. Recently, there was an instance where there was a baseball game that was wrapping up and we were told we could not use the field and it had been reserved essentially all day, despite it only being used for about 25% of that time. Further, one of the Park employees told me it was up to his discretion to allow or disallow people to use the field and I am trying to understand if that is accurate. There have been many instances where I have been looking to use the soccer net on the far side of the field and am told the field is closed. That would be fine except other people are permitted to do various things, ride scooters, play football, play catch, run around etc on the far end of the field while the youth baseball is occurring on the near end of the field. I'd also like to note there is a single seemingly park employee that works at Rotch field that is consistently rude and snide in my interactions with him, the other employees are very friendly. I'm trying to understand: 1.) If there is a public schedule for Rotch field somewhere 2.) How it is possible to reserve a public park for massive junks of time and then not use the field 3.) What does the reservation process look like 4.) Do park employees have discretion to decide who can and cannot use the field at any given time. Appreciate any insight you can provide.
