- I am writing to raise a formal concern regarding the maintenance conditions at Draper Field in West Roxbury. The fields are currently in a state of disrepair – poorly chalked lines, overgrown vegetation, broken fencing, and debris including trash/fallen branches make it unsuitable. This is problematic given that the ongoing Billings Street construction has already reduced the number of available fields in the area, placing greater demand on open fields. Additionally, during a visit to the field this morning, I observed two uniformed, city workers with a tractor who were walking their dog and did not appear to be actively performing any maintenance duties. I respectfully request that the city prioritize the upkeep of Draper Field so that the children of West Roxbury have access to safe and functional recreational spaces. Please advise on what steps will be taken and the expected timeline for remediation.
