- I’m reporting about a problem regarding 23 Galty Avenue in Dorchester. I am a homeowner at 43-45 Alicia Rd in Dorchester. This Galty Ave property has been served a few notices by the city yet it seems no one responds and no action seems to be taken against this property owner in terms of requiring them to maintain the house and land. It’s an eye sore for all of the neighbors. I live across from his backyard. During a recent rain and wind storm, one of his tree branches has fallen onto my property damaging a tree in my property as well as a cedar fence. Previously another large branch fell and penetrated his roof leaving a very large hole from which animals currently are entering his property. I feel that his tree is clearly a safety hazard in the neighborhood. I’ve already paid a tree company hundreds of dollars to clear some of his branches that were leaning over my property. I am wondering what if anything can be done about forcing this owner to fix his broken roof, collapsed back yard canopy or overgrown property front and back from weeds and other failed maintenance. I’m particularly concerned that one of his large trees is potentially going to fall onto my house or to the properties of one of my neighbors. I’ve enclosed two photos of the branch, which may not be huge, but it is still substantial and long. Something needs to be done to end this safety risk to the Neighbors about his falling branches and possible next, his falling trees. Thanks you for your response to this matter.
