- Description
- We, as a neighborhood, all pay a premium on rent to our landlords based upon the notion that “there’s a park” in the middle of the street. For two years we have lived here and for two years the beautiful, potentially useful, but wasted space that is Mullin Square has been unavailable for use, for seemingly no reason whatsoever. After many ignored and unanswered inquiries regarding this matter we, as a neighborhood, have decided to remove the lock ourselves if this matter is not addressed by 7/3/26. As a city which supposedly prides itself on providing outdoor spaces to its residents the continued pattern of ignoring our inquiries on this matter is essentially a slap in the face. The space still has all of the signage that any other park would have, and according to the publicly available excel spreadsheet on Boston.gov it is still a registered public space with an “open” status, despite it being off limits to residents for years. A failure by the city to respond to and/or address this inquiry will be interpreted as permission to remove the lock and utilize this beautiful, yet wasted space.
