Description: I would like to report a significant drainage issue in front of El Diamante, located at 71–73 Meridian Street in East Boston. The sidewalk appears to have negative grading, causing rainwater to flow downhill toward the building instead of draining toward the street and catch basins. During moderate to heavy rainfall, stormwater accumulates directly in front of the entrance and enters the first floor of the business, resulting in recurring flooding and potential property damage. The current sidewalk slope directs surface runoff toward the building rather than away from it, indicating that the existing grading and drainage are inadequate. This condition poses a risk to the property, creates a safety hazard for pedestrians due to standing water, and negatively impacts the operation of the business. I respectfully request that the City inspect the sidewalk elevation, grading, and drainage system to determine the appropriate corrective action to prevent stormwater from continuing to flow into the building.
