- There has been gas line construction on Bigelow St in Brighton since March, and they’ve done a poor job with road closure signs, but this week has been the worst. They’re working on Bigelow from Perthsire st to Hardwick. The road closed sign is at Perthsire and Hardwick, but those roads are each closed as well, only open to local traffic. I live on Bigelow and today (and Tuesday) came up Bigelow from Washington St, got to Perthsire and found Bigelow closed and Perthsire open to local residents. However when I turned down Perthsire to try and get to my house, that roads actually also closed and I had to turn around in a strangers driveway and go back down Bigelow. If I weren’t a resident, I would’ve gotten to that stop sign and had no options - straight was closed and left and right were both only open to local residents (even tho they were actually also closed). I’d propose the road closure signs be placed at least a block from the construction site so that people have opportunities to turn around. Instead cars are trying to back up down a main road (which is also a hill) and there’s a risk of someone getting hurt. They’ve also left substantial piles of materials and debris around the neighborhood
