Sidewalk Repair

- Description
- This section of sidewalk contains significant deterioration, including uneven pavement, cracks, raised surfaces, depressions, and dips that create hazardous travel conditions. These conditions make the sidewalk unsafe and difficult to navigate for wheelchair users, individuals with mobility devices, people using baby strollers, bicycles, shopping carts, and residents with balance or vision impairments. The uneven surface creates a serious risk of trips, falls, loss of control, and injury. In some cases, pedestrians are forced to leave the sidewalk and enter the street to avoid damaged areas, creating additional safety hazards. As a community member, I have personally experienced these barriers while using strollers and wheelchairs, and I have also heard repeated concerns from neighbors who regularly encounter these same conditions. This is not an isolated issue but a recurring accessibility barrier affecting safe travel for many residents. While future infrastructure or roadway projects may be planned in this area, these conditions present immediate safety and ADA accessibility concerns that require attention now. Sidewalk accessibility is a continuous public safety obligation and must be maintained regardless of future construction timelines. I respectfully request that this location be evaluated and prioritized for repair or temporary mitigation. Restoring a safe, level, and accessible sidewalk will improve public safety and ensure equitable access for all residents, including people with disabilities, families with young children, and older adults.
