- Description
- I would like to report a safety hazard involving the gate at this playground. The gate does not have any clear signage indicating whether it should be pushed or pulled. We found that the gate only opens in one direction. When my child was trying to leave the playground, he pushed the gate. The gate opened slightly, but not enough for him to safely pass through. It then swung back and struck him in the forehead, causing an injury that required four stitches. About one week later, we returned to the playground to see whether the gate had been repaired or modified. Unfortunately, the gate was still functioning in exactly the same way. While we were there, several other parents told us that they had experienced the same problem. They said they were also unsure whether the gate should be pushed or pulled and had been struck by the gate when it swung back. In their cases, they were adults. I am very concerned that another young child could suffer the same injury as my child. I believe this gate needs to be inspected and appropriate safety measures should be taken, such as clear PUSH/PULL signage or modifying the gate so that it can be safely used by children. Please have the appropriate department inspect this gate and address this safety hazard as soon as possible to prevent another child from being injured.
