- To: Boston Public Works, District 3 Boston Transportation Department Subject: Urgent Request: Street Light Replacement and Safety Hazard in Uphams Corner Location: Dudley Street and Virginia Street We are writing on behalf of the Uphams Corner community in Dorchester to urgently request the replacement of a broken street light. Street lights are essential for our community's safety and well-being. Good lighting deters crime and helps residents feel secure walking at night. It also prevents traffic accidents by making pedestrians and road hazards visible to drivers. Furthermore, the broken pole currently poses an immediate physical danger. The damaged street light pole was left with a sharp, jagged edge sticking out. This severe hazard could easily cause serious cuts or injuries to passing pedestrians, especially children or visually impaired neighbors. Please address this safety issue and replace the street light as soon as possible. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Sincerely, The Anthony Meeks Volunteer Advocate/Resident of Uphams Corner Community Dorchester, Boston
