- Description
- Residents are requesting an inspection and full curb-to-curb resurfacing of Wallace Court in Charlestown. Over the past several years, multiple utility companies have repeatedly excavated Wallace Court. The roadway has been cut open and patched numerous times, but the utilities have never adequately restored the street after completing their work. As the attached photos show, Wallace Court is now covered with utility cuts, deteriorating patches, cracks, depressions, uneven pavement and seams throughout the roadway. This is not an isolated pothole or single area requiring a patch. The cumulative utility work has left the entire street in very poor condition. Residents were previously told that the utilities responsible for this work would return and properly restore the roadway, but that has not occurred. We are requesting that Boston Public Works inspect Wallace Court in its entirety, review the history of utility excavation on the street, identify the utilities/contractors responsible, and require appropriate permanent restoration. We are specifically requesting that the City evaluate Wallace Court for full milling and curb-to-curb resurfacing, rather than additional spot patches. Please do not close this request based on filling individual cracks or potholes. The request is for an assessment of the entire roadway and full resurfacing of Wallace Court following repeated utility excavation.
