Description
Good afternoon, I am reaching out because I am desperately trying to find help for two elderly family members who have been living with an ongoing bed bug issue in their apartment since November. Their property management company has been made aware of the problem and treatments have been performed, but unfortunately, the issue has still not been resolved. They continue to find what appear to be bed bugs in their home, including in their bedding, along with blood spotting. I have attached recent photographs to document what they are continuing to experience. At this point, I am extremely concerned about their well-being. My aunt is elderly, diabetic, and already dealing with complications related to her health. Both residents are in delicate health, and having to continuously live and sleep in these conditions for nearly a year is taking a serious toll on them physically and emotionally. They have tried to work through the appropriate channels and have exhausted the options available to them through the property, yet they are still living with this problem. They are becoming increasingly depressed and isolated. Family and friends are understandably afraid to visit because of the possibility of bringing bed bugs back into their own homes. It is heartbreaking to watch two elderly people become isolated in their own home because an infestation has been allowed to continue for this long. I understand that bed bugs can be difficult to eradicate and may require multiple treatments. However, asking elderly residents with existing medical conditions to simply continue living in an infested apartment while repeated treatments fail is not an acceptable long-term solution. I am asking for someone to please intervene and help us determine what can be done immediately. If the apartment requires more extensive treatment, we would like assistance determining whether they can be temporarily relocated to a safe place while the unit is properly treated and cleared, with the ability to return to their home afterward. If that is not possible, we need guidance on what other housing or enforcement resources are available to them. We are not asking for special treatment. We are asking for a safe and sanitary home for two elderly people who have already been dealing with this for far too long. Please let me know who I should speak with, what documentation you need from us, or what steps we need to take to have this situation formally reviewed. I am happy to provide records of previous treatments, communications with management, additional photographs, or any other information that may help. I would greatly appreciate a response as soon as possible. They need help, and after nearly a year of living with this, I do not believe it is reasonable or humane for them to continue waiting for the situation to improve on its own. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any assistance you can provide.
