Description
🚨🚨LOCATION CORRECTION LOCATION CORRECTION Location • Primary Intersection: Columbia Road, Hancock Street, and Dudley Street, Dorchester, MA 02125 (Uphams Corner) 📝 Hazard Description • Issue: Extreme, catastrophic pavement deformations, severe asphalt buckling, and deep structural roadway warping localized across the left-turn transit corridor and surrounding intersections. • Institutional Negligence: The commissioners and leadership of the Boston Transportation Department (BTD) have continuously ignored the urgent, repeated pleas of the Uphams Corner community. This ongoing official indifference has allowed a critical community asset to degrade into an unmanaged, dangerous hazard. • ADA Violation: This absolute breakdown of basic infrastructure constitutes a flagrant, direct violation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) rules. The profound surface instability effectively strip-mines accessible mobility options away from vulnerable populations, rendering safe crossing entirely impossible for wheelchair users, seniors, and the visually or physically challenged. • Impact: The structural negligence poses an immediate, highly perilous hazard for shifting vehicular traffic, heavy MBTA buses, and emergency response vehicles navigating the intersection. The catastrophic conditions of these crosswalks present a severe, clear, and present danger to public safety. • Demand: Demanding an immediate emergency structural audit and immediate engineering remediation by BTD and Public Works to eliminate these illegal barriers and restore safety to the corridor.
