Description: I am requesting a review and correction of the traffic signal timing at South Street and Washington Street near Forest Hills Station, in coordination with the signal at Route 203. The current timing causes daily backups, blocks the intersection, and creates a dangerous situation for pedestrians crossing Washington Street to reach Forest Hills station. Currently, when the signal at Route 203 turns red vehicles continue coming down Washington Street and block the intersection. Drivers turning left from South Street have nowhere to go because traffic ahead remains stopped at the Route 203 signal. This prevents the intersection from clearing and causes backups on a daily basis. Please evaluate coordinating the signals so that the light on Washington Street at the South St Intersection turns red while the light at Route 203 and coming from South Street at Washington turns green. This would allow vehicles held at Route 203 to move through and create space for vehicles subsequently turning left from South Street at Washington Street. Please review the signal sequence, timing, and clearance intervals at both intersections and determine the appropriate adjustments to keep vehicles from blocking the intersection while maintaining safe pedestrian crossing time.
