Description
please refer this request to the Boston Transportation Dpt for an onsite review of the newly installed oval concrete barrier at the entrance to Woodlawn st in Jamaica Plain, across from the FH train station. Woodlawn is a narrow, twoway street where vehicles already frequently need to take turns passing. The concrete barrier further constricts the entrance, worsening an existing bottleneck and making daily entry and exit more difficult. I understand the safety purpose of keeping this area clear. However, the previous white diagonal pavement markings appeared sufficient without the additional concrete obstruction. The barrier also raises concerns about access for street sweeping, clearing debris around drainage infrastructure, and snowplowing. Winter snow accumulation could further narrow the available passage. as a resident, I would have appreciated an opportunity to provide input before installation. Pls evaluate removal or modification of the barrier while preserving pedestrian safety, and consult affected residents about alternatives. please provide the installation’s design rationale, the findings of the review, and the proposed next steps. sincerely Heidi (wJames and Ian Lee)
