    CLOSED #BCS-00184780

Resolved. All public street trees in the City of Boston and Massachusetts are protected by state law (MGL CH 87). The BPRD Urban Forestry Division is unable to remove a live and healthy public shade tree for the reason requested. The only way this tree could be removed for the reason requested is if the Public Works Department was planning to reconstruct all of Beryl Street to make the sidewalks ADA compliant and to have public tree hearings for the possible removal of each shade tree on the street that is interfering with sidewalk passage. A case has been made to the Public Works Department to inspect the sidewalk for repair.
