Constituent repors trash barrels and cones still being used for space savers on Merlin St, Dorchester, close to the intersection of Merlin St and Park St |

On Merlin Street (Dorchester 02124) people are still leaving things in the road as “spot savers”. There is no snow on the ground and we are well past the time for them.

Construction comes left past permit date

I completely agree with the request about handicap spot (between 279-312 Princeton st) that someone posted few days ago. I’ve actually been raising the same concern for months, but unfortunately nothing has changed so far. I’m really glad to see another resident bringing it up it shows this is affecting multiple people on the block. A review of these handicap spots and their associated permits would really help balance accessibility needs with available parking for residents. Yesterday, only one car had a handicap sticker. I’d also like to mention that there is always a space saver (cones) in front of 279-281

Some residents on Brahms Street in Roslindale use trash cans and various objects to save parking spots. Others go so far as to take up two spaces at a time to hold a spot for someone else; if you move their cone, they’ll key your car or slash your tires. This is a daily problem, and as a result, some neighbors are forced to park far away—all because certain residents—who actually have private driveways—monopolize all the street parking in front of their homes, acting as if the street belongs to them.
