  • Broken Sidewalk

100 Cambridge St, Boston, Ma, 02114

April 7, 2026 If not for the work crew outside of 100 Cambridge Street, Boston, today, I may have been seriously injured. All my fault, by the way. When I exit Bowdoin each morning, I cross over the 2 sections of Cambridge Street. Yes, I know that there are crosswalks on either end of this section of the street at both Bowdoin and Somerset. It is simply quicker to cross right there. In the middle of the street, there is an “island” or small stretch that separates the two sections of Cambridge Street. This is NOT a sidewalk. There are what looks like old hoses (old sprinkler system?) in that island. They protrude out of the dirt, and they are a huge trip hazard. After years of crossing in that way, it finally happened. I tripped on a hose. I stumbled, screamed, and furiously scanned my eyes to the right to look at oncoming traffic that surely would have either hurt or killed me. There they were. The work crew. They were blocking the oncoming traffic (either 1 or 2 lanes of it). Thank you, Jesus. Thank you, work crew. Thank you City of Boston for having the work crew there. I write, respectfully, to ask that the antiquated hoses be removed. For the first time ever, I will use the “senior” card. I am rapidly getting toward my senior years, and I am currently 61 years old. I will be working for years to come, and it is unlikely that I will start to cross at the crosswalks now. I would love some feedback. Thank you, Lori Swanson / 95 Basswood Ave. / Saugus, MA 01906 / 781-929-9467 Lifelong lover of all things BOSTON besides these trip hazards.

Sidewalk repairs scheduled to be done next week 4/13/26-4/27/26 from 7am-4pm in front of my business at 969A Dorchester Avenue, 02125. The sidewalk repairs will be blocking the only entrance/exit, which would be a safety hazard during business hours 12pm-8pm.

I am reporting a severe and ongoing safety hazard in the fitness center on Floor 3 at Troy Boston, 55 Traveler St, Boston 02118. There is a systemic electrical failure in the resident gym involving 5 to 6 light fixtures that have been strobing/flickering at a high frequency for over 60 days (since early February). This creates a dangerous environment for residents using heavy exercise machinery, posing risks of disorientation, vertigo, and potential seizures. Despite more than 10 written requests via the resident portal and a follow-up visit to the leasing office on April 9th, management has refused to even temporarily abate the hazard (e.g., by unscrewing the bulbs or cutting power). Corporate management is also non-responsive. This is a clear violation of Massachusetts State Sanitary Code (105 CMR 410.000) regarding safe lighting and maintenance of common areas. Please conduct an immediate inspection to order the abatement of this electrical hazard.
