Someone installed a concrete ramp, not to code, at the Centre Street entrance to the Arnold Arboretum. Please remove as it is a tripping hazard, blocks drainage, and creates an ice dam in the winter.

Building downspout & underground drain connected to city’s stormwater system is clogged. Causing flooding to front of building with seepage to interior walls. Is this a BWSC issue or homeowners responsibility to maintain connection to stormwater drain? I know some buildings have drains empty above ground onto sidewalks but that leaves you open to ice issues in the winter. I’d like to maintain the underground connection to city stormwater I just need to know whether I need to resolve the issue myself or if it’s BWSC responsibility? Please advise. Thank you!

  • Broken Sidewalk

Intersection Of Lamartine St And Green St, Jamaica Plain, Ma

As predicted on prior posts- new sidewalk and curb cut do not have adequate drainage. We anticipate this will be a big sheet of ice right at the curb cut in the winter.

Case Noted. The water will drain when it stops raining.

  • Broken Sidewalk

101 103 Green St, Jamaica Plain, Ma, 02130

In response to Case Number: 101006152645. The new repair to the sidewalk causes a bigger dip in the sidewalk than then repair in 2016. The prior repair from 2016 resulted in a dip in the sidewalk resulting in a constant puddle at the crosswalk both in the street and on the side walk resulting in significant ice in the winter and flooding the rest of the year. The sidewalk should be raised to stay in line with the rest of the sidewalk to allow for drainage to the catch basin (rather than the artificial dip that was manufactured during the repair in 2016 and deepened during the current repair). The prior repair and the current repair prevent water drainage and make this an even more dangerous intersection for pedestrians and cars particularly during the winter.

Rat hotel needs some attention please! Could you come and dry ice and then block the holes? There’s probably a large tunnel system under the box and trees that will eventually cause the ground to cave in.

    CLOSED #101006153003

Case Noted. Area inspector is monitoring the area. Brian.oliveri@boston.gov if you have photos or a more descriptive narrative of where the rodents are, please share them with us. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to be an extra set of eyes and ears in the community. Thank you again for seeing and reporting it.

Active sidewalk repair on Green Street in Jamaica Plain (sideway directly outside of 101 and 103 Green Street) installed new cross walk landing too low. Landing previously repaired incorrectly in 2016 as it lowered the landing causing a low point in the sidewalk resulting in flooding/ice as it prevented adequate drainage of water down Green Street to street drain. Lower landing also making granite edge on our property unstable risking possible property damage and injury. Current repair lowered landing further and worsens the problem. Discussed with supervisor prior to repair that landing needed to be higher than before to prevent flooding and ice which he stated was the plan of the current repair. However, current repair has lowered landing further (markings on granite edge show prior sidewalk level ~6 inches higher in 2016 and ~2 inches higher since 2016). Prior repair in 2016 lowered the landing and has resulted in flooding and ice as well as destabilization of our granite edge. This should be addressed prior to completion of the ongoing repair of the sidewalk.

    CLOSED #101006152645

Case Noted. The design of the ramp has changed due to the waterflow of the street. If the ramp was raised, then there would be a puddle prior to the ramp and it would not reach the catch basin.

Election Department workers that are 19-24 years old are being verbally harassed by Boston residents as they are attempting to obtain census information. It would make sense for the City of Boston to send an email, text, phone call or mailing explaining to residents what’s happening right now. Residents would be more respectful if they don’t think it’s a survey or ICE. Thank you! | Case (SR) Type: [Elections and Voting] Referred To: [ELECTION DEPARTMENT]
