The city also relies heavily on abutting property owners to help fill the bags if it is possible for them to do so every other week as well.     New cherry plum tree planted today, desperately hoping for a larger species to provide shade to the sidewalk in the warmer months. If possible hoping to match the other 2 trees on Salem street with another cherry tree. If not available any other shade tree (ex: elm tree) would be preferred. Thank you so much!

    Noted. The newly planted tree is not going to be replaced with another species. It was chosen specifically for this site due to the overhead utility lines and to avoid conflict with the lines in the future. The BPRD does not plant large shade trees under utility lines as the power company will come along in years to come and cut the tree down below the height of the lines.
