  • Code Enforcement Collection

    Colliston Rd & Kilsyth Rd

FOLLOW-UP to case #BCS-00253677, which was closed as "resolved" only because DPW collected the trash. The underlying violation was never inspected or addressed, and the same condition is back one week later. Location: 71-75 Kilsyth Rd, Brighton, MA 02135 (apartment building, managed by Chestnut Hill Realty). Photo taken this evening, the night BEFORE collection day, so the condition is visible now. Current violations visible in the photo: 1. Barrels are overflowing with lids propped open and trash spilling out (Art. 23, Sec. 8 — overfilling; property owner/manager is responsible for providing adequate barrels for tenants). 2. Numerous loose bags piled on the ground and sidewalk outside any container (Art. 23, Sec. 5 — trash must be stored in a barrel with a tight-fitting lid). 3. Cardboard boxes being used as trash containers, which is not permitted. 4. A discarded mattress left at the curb. Mattresses must be scheduled for collection and cannot be placed out with regular trash. This happens every single collection week. Animals tear the loose bags open overnight and scatter trash across the sidewalk and street, which is a hazard to children and dogs and an ongoing rodent attractant. I am requesting a code enforcement inspection of the property and a citation to the owner/manager — not another DPW pickup. A pickup does not fix a recurring violation. Please have an inspector visit in the evening before collection or early in the morning before the truck arrives, when the condition is present. I am happy to provide dated photos from multiple weeks.
