Constituent reports park that needs to be done over with new play structure. Play Structure is not safe. | Type of improvement: [Play Equipment] SR Type: [Play Equipment] Inspector's notes: [Constituent reports park that needs to be done over with new play structure. Play Structure is not safe.]
CLOSED #101005236287Case Noted. Orchard Park recently had a rehabilitation project that was completed in November of 2023. Part of this project was updating the play equipment in the park. Before the rehabilitation was completed, the play equipment was inspected by national CSPI (playground safety inspector). The park passed all test and was determined to be safe. The project manager for Orchard Park reached out by email. There is not enough information in this 311 to make any changes to this park. Please reach out to 311 or nelle.ward@boston.gov with specific details on why you find a play structure to be unsafe. Providing photos would be helpful as well.

Constituent states the park needs for safety nets for children 1-4 years old. The park now has an open design that allows free movement to a huge area and the gate access leads directly to busy Dorchester Avenue where anyone entering and exiting the area can leave the gate open giving children direct access to the street. Also eliminated were the bucket swings for little ones, and swings for disabled minors everything for children 0 to 2 years of age. The constituent is requesting more child friendly equipment and safety. | Type of improvement: [Play Equipment] Affiliation type: [Constituent]
