  • General Traffic Engineering Request

Intersection Of Arundel St And Miner St And Beacon St, Boston, Ma

I live on Beacon street by the corner of Beacon and Miner. In the past few nights there have been multiple single vehicle accidents at this intersection. The first one got high-centered on the median. Tonight someone blew a tire and seems to have seriously damaged their front axel. Outside of these two incidents I have heard numerous loud BANGs and thunks. I have lived here since June and nothing like this has happened in that time, and suddenly, this week, it is like car-mageddon outside my door. The first guy took out the hi-viz crosswalk beacon, so maybe people just don't see the median? Anyhow, it sucks and it has made my cat's life a nightmare. |

    CLOSED #101005343725

Case Noted. BTD will investigate and make the necessary changes so that the median is visible to oncoming traffic. Thank you for contacting 311 and BTD.

  • General Traffic Engineering Request

201 Washington St, Brighton, Ma, 02135

I am writing to 311 tonight regarding a blind spot at the end of our driveway at 191 Washington St in Brighton Ma. When you are exiting the driveway onto Washington St there is a blind spot when there is a car parked on the corner you can NOT see the on coming traffic to the left when exiting. As you know people drive very fast down Washington St and I would not want to see another tragedy happen on the street. PLEASE contact me so we can get this problem solved. |

  • General Traffic Engineering Request

677 Adams St, Dorchester, Ma, 02122

Constituent states "I am writing to bring attention to a matter of grave concern regarding the safety of pedestrians and motorists at the intersection of Adams Street and Oakton Avenue. As a resident of this community, I have observed numerous near misses and accidents at this particular junction due to limited visibility. I kindly request your immediate attention to installing a traffic mirror at this intersection to enhance visibility and ensure the safety of all road users. The absence of a traffic mirror exacerbates the risk, especially during peak hours. Due to vehicles parked in front of the Boston Public Library where visibility is obstructed to oncoming traffic (traveling NORTH), please install mirrors near the pedestrian sign that is presently on the LEFT (Heading NORTH) on the same side as 677 Adams Street. Your prompt action in addressing this issue will undoubtedly contribute to the overall well-being and security of our community. Thank you for your attention to this matter." |

    CLOSED #101005340615

Case Noted. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. While understanding what you are requesting, BTD has discontinued the practice of providing signs for residential driveways. Also BTD does install mirrors as a form of traffic control devices.

  • General Traffic Engineering Request

Intersection Of Monastery Rd And Washington St, Brighton, Ma

Constituent states "I am an owner of a unit located at The Stratus Residences. The end of our driveway as it connects to Washington Street has proven to be a very dangerous turn to navigate. It is difficult if not impossible to see cars coming from either direction and forces me to edge my car out into the intersection which leaves me very exposed to oncoming traffic. I frequently travel from the building and through this intersection and it is always nerve-wracking at best. We would greatly appreciate some solution before someone is injured or worse. Possibly placing no parking areas on both sides of Washington Street allowing clear vision to both sides of the street. Thank you for your consideration." |

    CLOSED #101005339018

Case Resolved. No stopping signage has been installed opposite #200 Washington St, Brighton to help sight distance concern.

Case Noted. Thank you for reaching out to us with your issue. We share your concerns about making the City streets safer and we recently revised our speed hump program so that neighborhoods can receive them more quickly. We aim to slow traffic to make every street in the City safer and more comfortable for walking, biking, and rolling. A map is available on boston.gov that shows which streets in the City will receive speed humps during the first three-year phase of construction. We will continue to update the map as new phases of construction are determined. We plan to design and build speed humps in about ten areas each year for the next three years. This is approximately 500 speed humps per year. Thank you for contacting 311 and BTD.
