  • General Traffic Engineering Request

15 Macullar Rd, West Roxbury, Ma, 02132

Const lives right around the corner from the Kilmer, and the buses dropping kids off between 9:15am-9:30am block his driveway, so he cannot get out and parents dropping off kids block driveway and even park in his driveway to drop their kids off |

    CLOSED #101006016027

Case Noted. Unfortunately, BTD has discontinued the practice of posting signs for driveways. The City of Boston Traffic Rules and Regulations prohibit any driver from stopping, standing, or parking a vehicle in front of a driveway. Instead, BTD encourages residents to post their own sign that can be purchased at any hardware store. Also, according to Traffic Regulations drivers are not suppose to be parked within 2 feet of driveway opening. If any driver is violating these regulations please contact BTD Enforcement for further resolution. Thank you for contacting 311 & BTD.

  • General Traffic Engineering Request

227 Highland St, Roxbury, Ma, 02119

There is a tow zone, It's one of those spots that looks harmless to park in, but if someone parks there, large vehicles like trucks or school buses can't get around the corner from Fulda St onto Highland. I'm woken up more or less monthly by the honking and arguing that occurs when the road backs up for half a mile because of a single car parking in the tow zone.I believe more prominent signage or markings would be helpful in ensuring people are aware they are parking in a tow zone. |

Case Noted. Hello, A request has been put in to improve parking restriction signage at this intersection. Thank you for contacting 311 and BTD.

  • General Traffic Engineering Request

216 Northampton St, Roxbury, Ma, 02118

Constituent is requesting for the two speed bumps on  street to be removed, states there are two speed bumps on this street that causes major traffic. Would like for this to be looked into. Constituents would like to know why speed bumps were placed on the street. |

    CLOSED #101005921440

Case Resolved. We hear your concerns regarding speed humps on Northampton St., and we want to clarify that the speed control infrastructure we install is built to the same regulations across all of Boston, with no humps being over 3 inches in height or three feet in width. They are spaced with the goal of providing a consistent and predictable experience for drivers. We understand that speed control infrastructure can be initially disruptive to those who are accustomed to traveling roads prior to its installation, but it is put in place with the end goal of reducing speed-related crashes and by extension traffic problems overall, and has been shown to do so in former case studies. Our speed hump program is planned with the consultation of a variety of different emergency services. We have taken into account the different needs of first responder teams, and have taken steps to minimize interference with their operations while maximizing safety for Boston drivers. We take your feedback very seriously, and we will consider it as we move forward. Sincerely, The BTD Vision Zero Team.
