I would like to report a faulty municipal electrical box (within a few feet of a public playground), located on Parks Department property at Martin Tot Lot on Myrtlebank Ave. This electrical box is emitting a loud, constant, deep humming/buzz noise that sounds unusual— and as if the box might burst open. On top of high temperatures and direct sun exposure, this particular box’s persistent, unusually loud noise could potentially be indicating an overloaded system, a failing component of the system, or loose electrical connections. It is a very old electrical box. At a minimum, the area should be evaluated for public safety, including whether warning signage such as "Do Not Touch" should be installed if needed. If this equipment is owned or maintained by local electric utility rather than the City, please forward this report to the responsible utility or advise the appropriate agency. Because this equipment is in the middle of where many children play and they don’t know what they’re doing, it is important to inspect as soon as possible. Thank you for your service to the people of Boston and for your attention to this potential public safety concern.
