Damaged Sign
Intersection Of Glenmont Rd And Lake St, Brighton, MaThe stop sign at the corner of Lake Street and Glenmont Road (the sign facing motorists coming down Lake St.) that was recently installed is now missing. The addition of the three stop signs at this admittedly awkward intersection was a boon to public safety, although it would have been better if the sign had been visible to all -- the view of it from other angles was blocked by a do-not-enter sign (which of course is essential for this one-way street), meaning drivers approaching the intersection from the other two streets weren't always sure it was a 3-way stop. The best thing to do would have been to install "3-way stop" signs visible to drivers approaching from all three directions, *and* to give drivers coming down Lake Street a heads-up "Stop sign ahead" sign toward the bottom of the Lake Street hill. But now, with the stop sign for Lake St. traffic removed, it's the worst possible scenario: increased uncertainty for drivers -- and pedestrians -- who had gotten used to the stop signs. I know one bicyclist who came close to getting killed by a car he'd expected to stop. At minimum, the stop sign needs to be re-installed (along with other helpful signage, see above). Moreover, crosswalks must be painted at every crossing point -- two on Lake Street as well as one on Glenmont and one on Kendrick. Again, this is an awkward intersection we've all inherited, but it's heavily trafficked by cars and pedestrians, and it needs to be made safe and sane for everybody.

Snow Plowing/Salting
7 Prescott St, Charlestown, Ma, 02129I’m writing with some urgency regarding snow removal on Charlestown’s narrower streets, especially given the significant accumulation we’re already facing and the possibility of another storm this weekend. With nearly two feet of snow on the ground, many residents have no remaining space to place additional snow. On streets like Prescott Street, where parking is permitted on only one side, conditions are becoming increasingly difficult and potentially unsafe for residents, pedestrians, and emergency access. I’m hoping the City might consider removing accumulated snow on at least one side of these narrow streets in advance of the next storm. Doing so would greatly help relieve current conditions and better prepare the neighborhood for what may be coming. Could you please let me know if there are any plans in place, or being considered, to address this issue? Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated by many of us here. Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
