Poor Conditions of Property
10 Westerly St, Jamaica Plain, Ma, 02130This property is as close to being abandoned as can be even though supposedly it has demolition/construction permits. Previously cited multiple times including for over 1 cubic feet of trash/waste. That has not changed. Contractor doing the work has shown up twice this year for a total of 3 days to demolish the roof and leave an even bigger mess than before all around the property. Rotting building materials that have been exposed to the elements since February when they were delivered. Demolition debris and other trash all over the backyard and all sides of property. Rats must be nesting around the property and run around at night when people are walking down the sidewalk. The neighbor's dog has even killed 2 rats in the last few weeks. The owners haven't paid a single citation as confirmed by the city's lookup tool. Why is there no better enforcement? Their building permit should be revoked until they comply with city regulations or a lien be placed on it. Please do something about this. Going on for over 2 years now and the way it looks probably no resolution in sight. Whoever is in charge, both owner and contractor, are clearly not responsible people and don't care how it affects the neighborhood.

Poor Conditions of Property
6 Westerly St, Jamaica Plain, Ma, 02130Previously reported leaves piled up on sidewalk against brick wall fence. Now some have been pushed over the curb onto the street. Previous response was that this is not a code violation although city regulations explicitly state that sidewalk are to be kept clear of any trash, debris and snow. DPW won't pick up leaves which makes absolute sense. DPW also won't come shovel the sidewalk in front of properties. Why? Because property owners are responsible for keeping sidewalks clear of trash, debris and snow. As winter goes on, the people that come shovel snow at 6 Westerly will keep pushing more and more leaves onto the street whenever it snows, which is what they did yesterday. Eventually, even the leaves they've piled up on the driveway will end up on the sidewalk and street. There is no more street cleaning. It's over for the season. So leaves on the curb will prevent water from flowing properly, especially since there is a speed hump right in front of the property in question. If code enforcement isn't going to enforce city regulations and DPW isn't responsible for any sort of cleanup, then where are our property tax dollars going? Someone is responsible, right? Especially now that the rates are being increased. Please give me an answer as to why leaves purposely piled up but not picked up is not considered debris. Doing a search about if leaves are considered debris yields the very simple answer that it is yard waste/debris. The regulation cites trash and debris. It's extremely clear. Why the push back on enforcing the very codes the city has established? All around property, including driveway has yard waste/debris just piled up or laying about.
